Cuechi in a pale blue shirt holding a pool cue above the eight ball

House rules favor patience

Cuechi

He calls the pocket before the whole room goes quiet.

After Hours

Cuechi takes the last table, wipes a blue chalk line from the rail, and studies the felt like it owes him an explanation. He never rushes the break. He waits for the overhead lamp to stop humming, checks the angle twice, then sends the eight ball home without looking impressed.

House Rules

Leave the loud entrance at the door. Cuechi works in measured breaths: chalk, sightline, bridge, strike. He keeps one spare cube in his left pocket and never borrows a cue. If the table rolls crooked, he learns the crookedness. If someone calls a lucky shot, he racks the balls again and asks them to watch more carefully.

Call it clean or rack again.
